Instructions:

  1. Crack Open the Coconuts: Start by cracking open the fresh coconuts. You can do this by using a hammer or a sturdy knife. Once opened, collect the coconut water (the clear liquid inside the coconut) in a separate container. You can drink it or use it in smoothies; it’s refreshing and nutritious.
  2. Remove the Coconut Flesh: Use a spoon or a coconut scraper to carefully remove the white coconut flesh from the coconut shells. 
  3. Blend the Coconut Flesh: Place the coconut flesh in a blender or food processor. Add some hot water (not boiling, but hot enough) to the blender. The ratio of coconut to water will determine the thickness of the coconut milk.
  4. Extract the Coconut Milk: Place a nut milk bag or cheesecloth over a bowl or jug. Pour the blended coconut mixture into the nut milk bag or cheesecloth.
  5. Squeeze out the Milk: Gather the ends of the nut milk bag or cheesecloth and twist it to create pressure. Squeeze out all the coconut milk. The liquid collected in the bowl or jug is your fresh homemade coconut milk.
