Gujrati Recipe Dal Dhokli
Dal Dhokli is a Traditional Gujrati recipe but is very famous in whole India. because of it very easy to make, healthy and tasty. Recently in big boss the contestant Manisha Raani talking about it.so Y thought why not the recipe should be share with my people so here is the recipe make at home and enjoy with the family.
Ingredients:
For the Dal (Lentil Curry):
- 1 cup split pigeon peas (arhar/toor dal)
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tomato
- 1 onion
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried mango powder (amchur)
- 1 tablespoon crushed peanuts
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- 1 tablespoon desi ghee (clarified butter) for tempering
For the Dhokli (Wheat Flour Dumplings):
- 1/2 cup besan (gram flour)
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ajwain (carom seeds)
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
- 1/2 teaspoon kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
Instructions:
For the Dal (Lentil Curry):
- Wash and soak the split pigeon peas in water for 1 hour. Drain the soaked dal.
- In a pressure cooker, add the soaked dal, salt, and turmeric powder. Pressure cook until the dal is cooked and soft.
- In the meantime, prepare the dhokli dough.
For the Dhokli (Wheat Flour Dumplings):
- In a mixing bowl, combine besan, whole wheat flour, ajwain, cumin seeds, and kasuri methi.
- Add water gradually and knead the flour into a soft dough. Set it aside for rest.
- boil the large port of water .
Back to the Dal:
4. After the dal is cooked, heat 1 tablespoon of desi ghee in a pan. Add the cooked dal to it.
- Roll out the dhokli dough into thin circles and cut them into small pieces using a knife.
- Drop the dhokli pieces into the boiling water. Cook for about 10-15 minutes until the dhokli is done. .
- Drain the dhokli and add them to the dal.
Tempering and Finishing:
8. In a separate pan, heat some oil and add mustard seeds. Let them splutter.
- Add chopped onion, tomato, green chilies, and the remaining spices to the tempering.
- Cook until the onion and tomato turn soft.
- Pour this tempering over the dal and dhokli.
- Finally, garnish with crushed peanuts and chopped fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve the hot Dal Dhokli, and enjoy!
Dal Dhokli is best enjoyed when served hot.
